About Jenny

Jenny Froyd is an abstract painter from Iowa, who has earned a bachelor’s degree in art education and a master’s degree in counseling.

Working and raising a family kept her too busy to create art for over 30 years. Once she retired in 2020, she was eager to devote her free time to experimenting with painting once more.

She began by taking abstract painting classes at her local art center and started to play with colors, processes, and compositions once again.

Her canvases are combinations of acrylics, watercolors, pastels, and collages. She creates multi-layered pieces that evoke glimpses of the Iowa countryside. Circles often find a way into her compositions as she translates landscapes into a collection of fragmented elements using color, shape, patterns, and textures.

She continues to experiment with the desire to balance what should be shown and what should be hidden.
